Spirit of Place:
The Landscape and Spiritual Development

Once a worldwide practice, working with Spirit of Place, stretches back tens of thousands of years. And today, we can still see vestiges of it through myths, legends, shrines, stone circles, and architecture of old. This tutorial covers the meaning of Spirit of Place, how to find and work with it for spiritual development, and how geomancy relates to Spirit of Place.

Axis Mundi and the World Axis

The concept of having a world axis or a symbolic world center was deeply rooted during ancient times. It gave structure and was woven into the religious cosmologies, myth and folklore, as an ordering of reality on many levels. For those who follow a shamanic path, the concept of the World Axis is paramount for work between the Upper, Middle and Lower Worlds. This tutorial is an overview of how many ancient world cultures worked with the concept of the Axis Mundi in their varied traditions. You will also learn exercises on how to work with this age-old method of transcendence.

Spirit of Place:
Earth Magnetics and Blood Mysteries

From prehistoric times to the present, man has sought out places of power to work with the earth’s energetic forces and perform sacred shamanic ceremonies. In this tutorial you will learn why people are attracted to Spirit of Place and why these places profoundly affect us. This tutorial will also cover planetary magnetic cycles and human development, plus mysteries of our blood.

The Sacred Significance
of Mountains and Trees

Since antiquity, mountains have been venerated as symbols of transcendence, mystical exaltation, and places where Gods live and reveal their presence and teachings. In this tutorial you will turn your attention to the Vedic texts of India to discover the ancient origin of the Sacred Mountain and the Four Cardinal Directions. You will also learn a cross-cultural perspective regarding the sacred significance of trees, why the ancients revered them, and how to integrate these teachings in your life.

Introduction to the Medicine Wheel

The Medicine Wheel is an ingenious, transformational, and multidimensional tool used by Native Americans for thousands of years to shift their perceptions so they could understand the surrounding world and themselves in a more enlightened way. This tutorial helps you to understand the indigenous, shamanic culture that the Medicine Wheel came from. You will learn about the Universal Laws that native people base their lives on to form Right Relationship with all our relations and how this differs from the philosophies of western culture.

Medicine Wheel II:
The Four Cardinal Directions

As an inter-dimensional aspect of Spirit, and a blueprint for all life situations, the Four Cardinal Directions of the Medicine Wheel can be worked with in many different ways. In this tutorial, you will learn some basic understandings and underlying truths about the Four Cardinal Directions and suggestions on how to begin working with them.

Medicine Wheel III:
Totems and Earth Astrology

Like Astrology, the medicine wheel can become a complex, left brained (logical) exercise of many different totems, and descriptions of their attributes. Although you will be given two charts as reference tools, the purpose of this tutorial is to stretch your creative abilities, and train you how to connect with your totem’s spirit, so that it can become a real life helper and guide.

With this tutorial you will learn how to build a Medicine Wheel in a sacred manner.

Putting it All Together

Medicine Wheels are places to pray, meditate, contemplate, and strengthen our shamanic connection to life and the universe.
